February Japanese class JNL Newsletter


Dear Parents of Grade 4 
 Here is monthly Japanese class newsletter.

  This month, the Grade 4 students were happy to get a new Japanese Kokugo textbook (the second volume).
 The first story for the new textbook was “Gongitsune”. We read the story focused on the hero of the story “Gon”(name for a fox)’s feeling. After reading this story, the students talked their opinion about the story. They   remarked that the poor “Gon” died but lastly it was good “Hyojyu” to understood what “Gon”did. They wrote their impressions about this story on their notebook, so please take a look at it when you have a chance.They had reading homework for this story. I know they had a hard time to read it as homework because it’s a long story. I thank you for encouraging them to finish it.
 Now, we are learning Japanese idiomatic phrase at the topic “Kanyouku” (慣用句) . Some idioms are difficult because the meaning is different from the meanings of the individual words. So they looked up the idioms in a dictionary. I feel they are interested in this “Kanyouku”.

Art- February Newsletter

Hello,

Grade 4 students were working on their chair models in the past weeks. They came up with amazing ideas and designs! While enjoyed improving their models each class, they also had a great cooperation by helping, giving ideas to each others.

Meanwhile, we held HJIS Art Exhibition 2017 in the past weeks which was a very colorful event.
